Corona Roller Basis Information
Silicone rubber coated corona roller is a type of roller used in
corona treatment processes for films. It is designed to enhance the
surface properties of polymeric films, such as polyethylene films,
by subjecting them to a corona discharge. The corona discharge
helps improve the film's ink retention, coating adhesion, and
printability.
The principle is to use a high frequency and high voltage corona
discharge on the surface of the treated plastic (high frequency AC
voltage up to 5000-15000V/m2), and produce a low temperature
plasma, so that the plastic surface produces a free group reaction
and the polymer cross-linked. Roughness of the surface and increase
its wettability to polar solvents - these ionoplasms destroy their
molecular structure by electric shock and penetration into the
surface of the printed body, which in turn oxidizes and polarizes
the treated surface molecules, and ionic electric shocks erode the
surface, resulting in increased adhesion of the substrate surface.
The purpose of corona treatment is to change the surface energy of
many substrates so that they are easily bonded to printing inks,
coating materials and adhesives. All substrates have good adhesive
properties after some treatment during the manufacturing process.
Corona treatment is a post-processing, it should be pointed out
that corona treatment is not a process that can be used to change
the surface energy of the substrate when producing the substrate.
Other treatment methods include flame treatment and coating
treatment. Which treatment method is used mainly depends on the
structure of the substrate.
